Parents of Americans killed in Benghazi sue Hillary Clinton

Americans killed in the Libyan city of Benghazi are pressing Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. A US diplomatic compound was attacked by Islamic forces in 2012, killing four Americans including Ambassador Chris Stevens and the two children of the accusers, Sean Smith and Tyron Woods.

The lawsuit claims that Hillary Clinton, in her position of Secretary of State, made inappropriate use of private email servers that led to their sons’ death. They say that her handling of confidential and classified information was with “extreme carelessness”.  This, they argue, may have revealed the location of the State Department in Libya.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of Patricia Smith and Charles Woods by the conservative group Freedom Watch, namely the Washington DC attorney and Hillary´s eternal nemesis, Larry Klayman.

The lawsuit also accuses Clinton of making “false and defamatory statements negligently, recklessly and purposefully and/or intentionally with malice” against Smith’s and Woods’ parents.  Clinton had stated that the plaintiffs were lying and that the Benghazi attack was caused by a YouTube anti-Muslim video.

Smith and Woods have been critical of Clinton´s candidacy for president. Last month during the Republican Convention in Cleveland, Smith said that she puts the blame on “Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son”.

James Comey, FBI Director, stated that it is possible that hostiles could have gained access to Clinton´s emails. However, he did point out that they had not found any evidence that it actually happened.

A statement released by Nick Merrill, a spokesperson for Mrs. Clinton, said, “While no one can imagine the pain of the families of the brave Americans we lost at Benghazi, there have been nine different investigations into this attack and none found any evidence whatsoever of any wrongdoing on the part of Hillary Clinton.”
